Centre Way Shoes Part 2
The Kemp Series…..
The AKA Miss Lilly Lane Series is now up, and ready for purchase at the RDM Photography Redbubble Store!
I was chuffed when a friend asked me to help her out for her entry into the Miss Pinup Australia competition.
She chose to not do the usual pinup shots with bright coloured coloured shots from the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s, and chose to rather concentrate on the more classic 20’s, 30’s and 40’s look.

Do you want to shoot macro and don’t have a macro lens? Just tape your lens back to front and voila!
Make sure you use good tape and tape it well. Try not to tape over your electronic connections!
Leave it on manual focus, and focus by moving either closer or further.
I like using my 50mm lens. Love that lens. Works a treat.
Best to use a tripod if you can to be as stable as you can, otherwise rest your arms on a wall or book or something similar.
Enjoy.

This is a great competition. I’ve entered the last 2 years in a row, was a finalist in my first one, and am very much looking forward to it this year.

A few events held over the last couple of days show cased some of of Canon’s work. Some of which is a sneak peak at the future….not sure exactly if I am a big fan of it though!!
First, film moved to digital, and now, it’s continuous filming on a SLR looking camera, and then selecting the frames you want! It loses the essence of photography. The bits where you just go out on your own with your camera, spend time looking for light, setting up the tripod, setting up the shutter speed and aperture. It’s pretty much gone, and replaced with continuous filming. Not a fan. Granted, it may not be in for another 2 decades, however, a lot can happen in 2 decades and very fast.
Have a look at what the guys at Engadget have to say by clicking on the photo.
Canon also displayed the concept of 4K through an 8MP CMOS sensor with the Canon Multipurpose! Now that blows 1080P out of the water, and it’s pretty awesome. And the images look sharp as all buggery. This however won’t be on sail anytime soon, and it does look like a hair dryer….but….having images of this quality is pretty dang good hey! Here is some more info on the 60D I discussed earlier….
I have never shot a Sony camera before. I can’t give an opiniion on whether it is good or not. However, they certainly do look the part!
Have a read of what the guys at engadget had to say by clicking onthe photo….eitherway….I still love my Canon 30D…..
And remember what I always tell my mates when it comes to buying a camera….It’s not just about the gear….rather the light. You can still get fantastic shots out of point and shoots, or old film cameras like the wonderful Holga. An example of one of mine is below:
Or even pinhole photography, below photo taken by jonespointfilm

Another thing to remember, the camera may look great, but when you actually hold it, you may hate it. Have a play first.
I’m not a fan of live vew or rotating pop out screens on an SLR camera. To me shooting an SLR camera is about viewing through the finder and shooting. It’s just odd otherwise. I’m not using a mini point and shoot here! Or a phone! It’s a camera. And using the screen to view just seems plain wrong. Even if it rotates!
So….i’m not to excited by this possibility. Canon have held out on releasing an SLR with an articulating live display….but according to the guys at Engadget, this could be their entry into the market.
The 70D has live view yes, I don’t like it. It doesn’t rotate though. It’s not the reason why I don’t have one….I can’t afford one at the moment! But I love my old school 30D. Non rotating screen, blue tacked eye cup and all. And really, if I was to upgrade, it would be to the 5D.
Call me old fashioned….but even if there is a live screen, rotating or not…..viewfinder is the way to go!
It will be interesting though, to see what specs the 60D brings…if it’s true.
A surprise setting for my beautiful fiance’s birthday…
